Default Eternal Grove Master's Attempt

This mission is easy enough to complete, but damned if I can't get master's with henchmen only.

I'm going to bed for now but when I get up, I'm going to put together a team to get in and knock this mission out.

The planned start time is going to be 10 hours from now (4am CST).

Post here with your IGN and profession.

I can't hench this...I get destroyed 3 minutes after the Afflicted come.
Been stuck here for a week, failed ten times.
Forget Masters, I need to get an actual team (Max people ever here is like, 8...and that's barely enough, but they're usually worse than henchies)

It might be possible to hench with heros... send the henches to one gate, the heros to another. Or try some sort of split. With Olias as MM and Master of Whispers as MM, you can keep a large meat shield at each end of the inner grove.

Get a ranger or 2 and trap the stairs like hell. Works very well.

I got masters on this, by complete fluke, the other day. We had a
  • Monk (me) (healing)
  • Margrid the Sly (my hero)
  • Koss (my hero)
  • Master of Whispers (my hero) (playing as MM)
  • Ritualist (summoner with Ritual Lord)
  • Monk (healing)
  • Monk (protection)
  • Warrior

I took my heroes to one side and the other 4 humans went to the other side to deal with all the siege turtles.

When it came to the afflicted I would move Master of Whispers over to whichever side looked like it was in trouble and the protection monk would hover around the middle dishing out protection wherever it was required. I hate that first warrior boss though...the Afflicted Maaka I think...if you're going to get utterly pwnd ay any time through that mission it's usually by his hand!

Hope this may have helped.

The somewhat ideal setup for this mission was split team. Each group has:
- trapper ranger
- MM
- prot/healer
- nuker

Have each group trap the gates, then let the mobs rush into you. This could probably be done with 2 players with 3 apropriate heroes each. Between waves, run out to kill the turtles.

One little tip, use the juggernauts as extra meat shields at the gates. Which ever side you think will be weaker, send 2 juggies over. Make sure to place them just inside the gate, and they'll stand just inside and act as a wall for you.

My ritualist's communing build seems to work very well here.

pain,
anguish,
bloodsong,
painful bond,
union,
shelter,
signet of spirits,
signet of binding.

basically I put the attacking spirits in the doorway on one side, then rush over to the other side and put them up there as well. I keep union and shelter up as much as possible (use binding on both frequently).

with pain, anguish, and bloodsong up painful bond hurts enough to wipe out even the afflicted warrior boss.

hope this helps someone.

Yeah, probably is that you don't see people playing in factions anymore, thanks to Nightfall. I did it the other day with masters with another pug with our 3 heroes each. Both of us take one gate and occasionally you have to help one another.

Another good team build for masters really only requires 6 people. An MM, a stance tank, and a healer on each side will do.

You can easily do this split squad with 2X:
Blight or Boon Prot
MM
2x Fire Ele

A fire ele can be replaced, if the player doesn't happen to be one of those 3 professions. Most people weren't good enough with Blight to do this split when Factions was out, so I'd still suggest crappy (most) monks go boon prot. I also suggest the the MM always be a hero because NPCs are the only thing that can properly use Death Nova and Jagged Bones to the fullest.

All you really need is 2 people, 1 with heroes. Split up into two squads, one with hench (or their heroes) and the other with heroes. Make sure a healer and MM on both sides and viola!

First time when I helped out a guildy who needed it.
